As the nature of this site revolves around images. I’d like to point out something. Some pictures may be considered a little ‘risqué‘. This does not mean that there are images portraying sexual actions. This just means that if you don’t want your boss to look over your shoulder and see a couple of anime girls in swimsuits you might want to save himegimiSPACE for home browsing.
Rena is a girl who moved to Hinamizawa one year ago, and is in same grade-level as Keiichi. She has an obsession with things she perceives as cute – generally, these things are not considered cute by others. Every now and then, she goes treasure hunting in the town’s trash heap, searching for ‘cute’ things to collect, and upon finding something “cute”, it’s difficult to stop her. She has a habit of repeating words at the ends of sentences, most famously kana (”I wonder”.) and when finding something cute, she states that she wants to take it home. According to Mion, while Rena might seem cute herself, people should be careful not to anger her as she becomes quite scary when angered. She is especially sensitive about the topic of Oyashiro-sama; in Tsumihoroboshi-hen, her delusions about the god’s true nature go so far as to make her take the school hostage, trying to unreasonably force a police investigation into the matter. When she needs a weapon, she uses a large cleaver that she found at the trash heap.

Well, since this whole thing started it’s gained a bit of interest and i’ve had to think seriously about where it will go. Over the course of this post i’ll discuss the purpose of himegimiSPACE, the difficulties to overcome and the goals for the future.
The picture above is also completely unrelated. I like pictures you see… but I digress.
When I first decided to whip this fantastically awesome site up it was after hearing Guncannon babble about something for like 10 seconds. I didn’t really follow what it was about but I heard the words “himegimi” and “list”. I delved into making a multi-user list system work. Then I managed to get a bunch of peeps to sign up and some issues were addressed. I realised there was a few things that needed to be done and hence there is now a dev list.
The site is meant to be a place for people to enter in their “himegimi’s”. According to Kurogane, “himegimi” means approximately “princess”. So it is that users are able to list the himegimis they like and to post images and any extra info they want. Some users have chosen to just enter their list with pictures and nothing else. Some have summaries and bios on theirs and others have even turned them into Pokeyman type characters. There are no set rules on what your list should look like in terms of the detail you input on the himegimi’s.
There are some rules that users of the site are expected to adhere to however. These rules are merely to keep the site looking somewhat uniform. As the platform that himegimiSPACE runs on changes; so will the rules. This is mainly because the current system allows for a lot of freedom. The WPMU system we use allows for a lot of changes to each user’s list behind the scenes. This could make the site into a bit of a jumble. So the rules stay to enforce a little conformity.
On the technical side of things, the site in it’s current incarnation cannot sustain a large population of users. This is limited by both the server it runs on and also the limitations of the WPMU system. When I say “cannot sustain” I really mean “will not be allowed to grow to” a large population. This is because for each new user an entire new installation of Wordpress is required (WPMU with 20 blogs equals the same as 20 Wordpress installs). To help alleviate this situation I am purchasing a new server which will be dedicated to himegimiSPACE. This will allow for much better control over the server environment and will also allow for growth and future development.
For now the development of the site will continue with the current WPMU setup. Once the current dev list is complete we will consider other features that we would like to integrate into the system. When the current dev list is finished the site version will be 1.0. Version 1.0 will represent the first incarnation of himegimiSPACE. The next version to be accomplished will be Version 2.0 (duh).
Things are always better in doubles.
Version 2.0 will basically be a complete re-write. Hopefully from scratch or on a better platform then WPMU. We’ll see when we get there. The idea with Version 2.0 will be to make a custom built system that allows us to extend the himegimiSPACE model at will.
One last thing I should let you know too is that I plan for himegimiSPACE to always be free. Preferably without ads as well. There may at some point be some AWESOME feature never before seen in the world which I might charge for … but that’s a long way off.
So basically after thinking about where himegimiSPACE can go, i’ve decided to grab it and run with it. All props go to the guys who came up with the idea (i’ll make you guys badges or something cool.. maybe a mellow_bunny plushie or sumthin) and all credit to them. The future of himegimiSPACE is very definitely a long one and i’m looking forward to the challenge.

Biography: A shy and timid girl with a childish naïveté, Mikuru is as kind, caring and thoughtful as she is beautiful. She easily gets scared or flustered, more so in times whenever Haruhi is involved and makes her do embarrassing things. Apparently prone to daydreaming, she can also be rather clumsy at times. Nevertheless, she can be surprisingly resilient and is capable of recovering from even the most discomforting of situations. Her charm and radiance comes not only from her beauty, but also her cheerfulness and innocence. However, because of her gentle nature she seems rather helpless most of the time. Kyon sees it as his duty to always watch over and protect her, although, when it comes to Haruhi there is no rescue. Despite being reluctant to continue after the bunny-girl incident, where she was forced to wear a bunny-girl costume and pass out fliers on school grounds, Mikuru remains loyal and dedicated to the Brigade as well as her mission as a time-traveller. This strong resolve alone shows her inner strength.

(Kurogane) on the way, Guncannon got obssesed with the idea of worshipping them as princesses
(Kurogane) and imagining himself as a mecha in shining armor
(Kurogane) so he started to call them his himegimi's
(Kyon-kun) himegimi = princess in Japanese
Hence we now find HimegimiSpace. Here otaku across the globe gather to show their Himegimi's.
